How the basket is measured
The basket is USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CHF, AUD, CAD and NZD. For each currency, the tool calculates its appreciation relative to USD between two dated observations, subtracts the basket’s mean log change, and converts the result to a percentage. USD participates in the basket; weights are equal. Only dates shared by all eight currencies are used. Weekends and publication gaps can shorten the actual window. Rates are reference values, not executable quotes.
