The idea
Identify the exact legal entity, its regulator and permissions, then independently match the firm's website and contact details. A familiar logo or copied registration number is not enough. Product protections can differ by entity and jurisdiction. Read funding and withdrawal terms before transferring money.
A worked example
Two websites can claim the same registration number. Matching the official register's contact details helps distinguish the authorised firm from an imitation.
